SiGNE Legacy Webinar: Four Years of Innovation in Sustainable Battery Technology

Sep 22, 2026

The SiGNE consortium is delighted to invite members of the battery research community, sister projects, industry stakeholders and interested colleagues to its Legacy Webinar on Friday, 23 October 2026.

Over the past four years, SiGNE has brought together expertise from across Europe to develop safe, sustainable and high-performing next-generation battery technologies. This online event will reflect on the project’s journey and showcase its principal research achievements, outcomes and lessons learned.

From materials to manufacturing

The webinar will open with an introduction from SiGNE Project Coordinator Prof Kevin Ryan, who will discuss the origins of the project, its research vision and the ideas that shaped the consortium’s work.

Representatives from SiGNE’s eight technical Work Packages will then present highlights from across the battery value chain:

  • Anode Material Development
  • Electrolyte and Separator Development
  • Cathode Material Development
  • Upscaling of Component Materials
  • Full Cell Optimisation
  • Cell Design, Prototype Development and Validation
  • Circular Economy and Recycling
  • Manufacturability and Commercialisation

Each presentation will explore the Work Package’s original objectives, its most significant achievements and outcomes, and the lessons learned during the project.

Prof Ryan will conclude the presentations by bringing together the collective achievements of the consortium and reflecting on SiGNE’s contribution to the future of sustainable European battery research. The event will finish with a live audience Q&A and discussion.
